About Bobbie
I am a San Francisco native who, after living for years in the Bay Area, England, Ireland & Las Vegas (!?), has settled in Marin County for the last 29 years. I have worked in many artistic media since childhood, but as I never perceived myself as an “artist”, I pursued a number of other careers, returning only occasionally to artistic endeavors. I have been a public health microbiologist, a medical technologist, and scientific researcher at several major universities, including Oxford University, England. Following that, after a stint as a silversmith in Ireland, I was a Chief Deputy District Attorney in Las Vegas, Nevada, working in the fields of criminal law, juvenile law, child support enforcement, mental health & appellate law. In addition I have done extensive volunteer work around women’s & children’s issues (rape victims, abused & neglected children, domestic violence, etc.) After retiring from the law, I returned to my original love, art. I explored a variety of artistic media (stained glass, fused glass, glass mosaic, painting), looking for my passion. I found that passion in glass flameworking, using an oxy/propane torch to create one of a kind glass beads. I fell in love & became addicted. I have been selling my work for over 18 years. At first I used my beads predominantly in jewelry. While I still make beautiful & unique jewelry, such as earrings, necklaces, bracelets, etc., over time my emphasis had shifted to more practical objects, such as utensils, serving ware, bar ware, bookmarks, pens, glasses holder neckpieces & many more items. I enjoy layering different glasses & precious metals (fine silver, gold, palladium, copper) to give my beads depth & complexity.
